Dear Parents and Carers,
Karibu kwa wiki 6;
Bienvenue à la semaine 6;
As we near the end of Term 3, it’s been a busy and exciting time at our school. We’ve had a number of wonderful events and activities that have brought our community together, and I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on some of the highlights.
We kicked off our Book Week celebrations with a fantastic assembly, where our students showcased their creativity with some amazing dress-ups. It was wonderful to see so many of our students and staff embracing the magic of reading in such a fun and imaginative way.
We were also fortunate to welcome Nikki Rogers, a local author, who visited our P-2 students to share her love of storytelling and inspire our younger readers. It’s always a treat to see the joy on our students’ faces when they meet authors and hear about the creative process behind their favourite books.
Our Year 1 students had a memorable day as part of their Fire Education visit, where they learned valuable fire safety tips and the importance of being prepared. The highlight would have been when they got to spray the fire hose. It's essential for our students to learn these life skills, and I’m sure the visit will have a lasting impact.
Term 3 also marked the conclusion of our interschool sport program. It’s been a fantastic experience for our students, who have developed both their sporting skills and their sense of sportsmanship. I would like to congratulate all of our participants for their effort, enthusiasm, and teamwork and thank the dedicated staff for taking them each week.
For our Year 5 and 6 students, Life Education sessions have been a great opportunity to engage with important topics such as health and well-being. The sessions provided a safe and supportive environment for our students to discuss and learn about personal hygiene and responsibility.
In the classrooms, we continue to see good academic progress, driven by the commitment and hard work of our teaching staff. The focus on clarity and purpose in each lesson is evident, with learning intentions and success criteria being clearly communicated at the start of every session. It’s fantastic to hear our students articulate how their learning aligns with the overall assessment goals. This strong connection between daily lessons and assessment achievements is helping our students stay focused and motivated, fostering a deep sense of ownership over their learning. Our teachers are doing an amazing job in creating a structured, supportive environment that enables all students to reach their full potential.
On Monday afternoon our teaching staff participated in a moderation process alongside Rasmussen and Weir State Schools. This collaborative opportunity allowed our teachers to come together to review and strengthen our teaching practices, ensuring we continue to provide the best possible education for our students.
This week, we also celebrate Teacher Aide Week, where we acknowledge and express our gratitude for the incredible work our teacher aides do. They play such an important role in supporting both our teachers and students, and we are so fortunate to have such a dedicated and skilled team in our school.
Important Reminders:
· Tomorrow is a student-free day, so students are not required to attend school. Please make sure your child stays at home and enjoys a well-deserved break.
· Parent Teacher Student interviews next Wednesday. Please make sure you have made your booking.
As always, I’d like to thank you for your continued support throughout the term. We look forward to finishing the term strong and seeing what exciting opportunities Term 4 brings!

Our Fortnightly Wrap Up
Book Week Parade

Cricket Fun with a Special Guest!

Our Year 3 students had a great time learning cricket skills with our awesome coach — and a surprise visit from Adopt-A-Cowboy football player, Jeremiah!
They practiced batting, bowling, catching, and running between the wickets. It was a fun day full of teamwork, energy, and smiles.
Thank you, Jeremiah, for inspiring our students!
Fire Safety Fun in Year 1!

Year 1 had an exciting visit from our local fire brigade as part of their fire safety learning. Students listened carefully, asked great questions, and learned directly from real firefighters!
The highlight of the day? Seeing the fire truck up close and having a go with the fire hose — with a little help, of course!
A big thank you to our local firefighters for sharing their time and knowledge. What a memorable afternoon!
STEM Fun at JCU

Last Tuesday, our Solid Pathways STEM students — KC, Summer, and Olivia — had an exciting day at James Cook University exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
They toured the campus, visited the Science and Engineering areas, and enjoyed a tasty lunch before taking on a hands-on STEM challenge. In teams, students designed and built their own marble runs using paper plates, paper, and tape.
KC, Summer, and Olivia worked creatively and made clever changes to improve their design — earning third place for speed!
It was a fun and inspiring day that gave our students a taste of university life and the exciting world of STEM.
Strings Workshop

A huge shout-out to our fantastic music students who truly shined at last week’s workshop! They were punctual, enthusiastic, well-organized, hardworking, and showed wonderful manners all day long. What an amazing effort – we’re so proud of each and every one of you!
