Dear Aitkenvale School Community,
As we bid farewell to a fruitful Term 1, I am delighted to extend my appreciation to each and every one of you for your dedication, hard work, and commitment to our students' success. It has been a term marked by significant achievements and positive strides forward, reflecting our collective efforts and unwavering focus on equity and excellence.
Some key highlights from the last 2 weeks of this term have been:
Celebrating Harmony Day: I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the resounding success of our Harmony Day celebrations. Last week's festivities were a vibrant testament to the rich tapestry of cultures that thrive within our school community. It was truly inspiring to witness the diversity and unity on display, underscoring the importance of embracing and celebrating our differences.
Classroom Profiling Initiative: I am pleased to share that all our dedicated teachers have actively participated in voluntary class profiling activities aimed at fostering conducive learning environments. This ongoing initiative is pivotal in our efforts to cultivate safe, harmonious classrooms where students can thrive academically, free from distractions. I commend our staff for their commitment to continuous improvement in managing student behaviour and enhancing the overall learning experience for our students.
Infrastructure Enhancements: Throughout the term, you may have noticed ongoing improvements to our school's facilities. I am excited to announce several upcoming projects for the next term, including a comprehensive upgrade of the senior amenities, a re-fit of the school’s administration block, the establishment of a staff learning lounge dedicated to professional development, and the painting and remarking of the CPA. These enhancements are aimed at providing our students and staff with an even more conducive learning and working environment.
Transition Announcement: On a personal note, I am thrilled to share that I have been appointed as the Principal of Northern Beaches State High School, commencing next term. While I am saddened to be leaving Aitkenvale, I am confident that the school will continue to flourish under capable leadership. I am pleased to announce that Mr. Lee Braney has been appointed as my successor at Aitkenvale, effective from next term. The position is currently slated for Term 2, with the possibility of extension.
Once again, I extend my deepest gratitude to our entire school community for your unwavering support, dedication, and hard work throughout Term 1. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones, and I am excited about the journey ahead as we continue to work together and strive for excellence in all that we do.
Warm regards
Thomas Frankling

School Watch
The School Watch program encourages everyone to look out for and report any after-hours crime in our schools.
Empty schools can become targets for unlawful entry, arson, stealing, graffiti and property damage, especially during school holiday periods. This comes at a cost to the whole community and not just the financial cost of repairs.
The School Watch program is a partnership between the Department of Education and Protective Services Group, Queensland Police Service, providing a way for members of the community to report anything they see that is suspicious, even if it seems minor.
On average, more than 700 calls are made to School Watch every year, helping to keep our schools safe.
Look, Listen, Report. Call School Watch on 13 17 88.
If you see a crime in progress, call Triple Zero (000).
Year 3A
Year 3B
The students in 3B have been working hard on their persuasive writing this term, using their new knowledge and skills to draft and write a persuasive letter to Mr Frankling asking for a class pet. Some request were, spiders, sea dragons, snakes, ducks and chickens. I wonder which one he will pick. This week they will be presenting their letters to the class.
Year 4A
The year 4 class has been learning symmetry and fractions through drawing spiders. Halves, quarters and eighths were used to measure out the parts of the spider. How many can you see?
Year 4B
We have been very busy in 4B this term. We have read the book 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl and then written our own imaginative new chapter. We have published them on the computer, getting ready to share. We have also learnt about collecting and representing data, reading and understanding maps and designing our own symmetrical designs. We have enjoyed getting to know our new classmates this term with 5 new students.
