Dear Parents and Carers,
Karibu wiki ya 10;
Bienvenue à la semaine 10;
Wadda Mooli, Welcome to Week 10, Term 2 2025.
Can you believe we are just two days away from the end of Term 2? As we wrap up the term, it’s a wonderful time to pause and reflect on the rich learning, growth, and community spirit that have defined these past ten weeks.
From the buzz of curiosity in our classrooms to the energy of the playground, this term has been another amazing chapter in our school story. We’ve seen students learning with enthusiasm, whether it was exploring new concepts in math, writing thoughtful stories in English, tackling challenges in science, or shining on the sports field. Our learners continue to amaze us with their effort, creativity, and kindness.
I’m incredibly proud of the way our school community comes together. Not just to educate, but to inspire. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing staff for their passion and dedication, and to our families for your ongoing support. Your encouragement at home helps builds the strong foundation that allows our students to thrive.
Our recent Athletics Carnival was a fantastic day filled with energy, determination, and school spirit! It was wonderful to see students giving their best in every event whether they were running down the track, leaping into the sandpit, or cheering on their teammates from the sidelines. The effort, encouragement, and sportsmanship on display made us all proud.
A special thank you to our staff who helped make the day run smoothly, and to our students for showing what it means to compete with heart and respect.
We’re excited to announce that Age Champions and the winning House Team will be revealed and celebrated at our Week 2 assembly next term.
Well done to everyone who participated. You have shown what true team spirit looks like!
As we head into the holiday break, I encourage everyone to slow down, connect with friends, family and the environment and recharge. Take the time to laugh, rest, and make meaningful memories with those who matter most. Look after yourselves, and one another.
We can’t wait to welcome students back on Monday, 14th July, refreshed and ready for a new term of discovery, challenges, and achievement.
Enjoy the break—stay safe and stay curious.
Kind Regards
Lee Braney

Our Fortnightly Wrap-Up
Crazy Hair Day

Last Friday, we celebrated Crazy Hair Day — and the creativity on display was amazing! From colourful hair to imaginative accessories, everyone brought their most inventive styles. It was a fun and spirited way to wrap up the week. Thanks to all who joined in and made the day so special!
Interhouse Sports Carnival

On Monday and Tuesday, we held our Interhouse Sports Carnival! It was a fantastic two days of friendly competition, school spirit, and teamwork. Students from Ross, Rowe, Towns, and Black House gave it their all in a range of exciting events. Well done to everyone who participated and cheered on their teams!
Deadly Choices

A big shout-out to all the students who took part in the Deadly Choices program this term! Your commitment, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn about making healthy lifestyle choices has been inspiring. We’re proud of each and every one of you for embracing the opportunity and giving it your best.
Life Skills Workshop

This week our students enjoyed a hands-on visit from Life Skills Queensland! They took part in a DIY building activity, constructing their very own mini light boxes using nailing and joinery techniques, complete with LED lighting. Along the way, the instructors emphasised the importance of being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful—key values for any workshop environment.
Refugee Week

On Friday, we celebrated Refugee Day with a fun and vibrant lunchtime full of activities for everyone! It was a great chance for our school community to come together and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that makes Aitkenvale so special.
Students enjoyed music, games, and storytelling, learning about the strength, resilience, and contributions of refugees around the world.
Silver Day Celebrations

Last Friday, we celebrated Silver Day—a well-earned reward for all the hard work and positive behaviour our students have shown this term. Students had the chance to use their PBL tickets to "purchase" a fun activity of their choice, including movie and popcorn, outdoor games, computer/iPad time, cooking, and crafts. It was wonderful to see students enjoying themselves and celebrating their achievements in such a positive way.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day special and for giving our students the opportunity to celebrate their success this term!
Stings Workshop

Our incredible Aitkenvale State School students represented our school at this week’s Strings and Band workshop! On Monday, they dedicated the entire day to practicing—playing for hours without complaint, staying focused, and showing fantastic attitudes. Mrs Burnett is incredibly proud of their hard work.
On Wednesday, they returned for a quick rehearsal before the big concert, where they performed alongside 10 different orchestras and bands from the 3-day workshop. Our students played beautifully, learned three full pieces from memory in just one day, and were respectful and attentive audience members throughout the event.
Welcome to the Team Jacko!
We’re excited to officially welcome Schools Officer Jacko to the Aitkenvale State School staff!
A huge thank you to Jacko for all your hard work keeping our school grounds looking amazing. From the beautiful gardens to the ongoing maintenance around the school, your efforts are truly appreciated by staff, students, and families alike.
We’re lucky to have you as part of the Aitkenvale team!
