Dear Parents and Carers,
Karibu wiki ya 4;
Bienvenue à la semaine 4;
Wadda Mooli, Welcome to Week 4, Term 2 2025.
Always Try Your Best! At school it’s important to try your best in everything you do. Whether you're reading, writing, solving maths problems, or creating art, putting in your best effort helps you learn and grow. It’s okay to make mistakes, that’s how we learn! Keep a positive attitude, ask questions when you need help, and be proud of your progress. Every step you take brings you closer to reaching your goals!
Learning walls are an important part of our classrooms, helping students stay engaged and take ownership of their learning. These walls display key vocabulary, examples of work, learning goals, and helpful strategies that support current topics. Students can refer to them during lessons to guide their thinking, check their understanding, and reflect on their progress. Learning walls grow and change as we learn, making them a living resource that supports everyone on their learning journey.
Aitkenvale State School has 5 questions that we ask our students to assist them in keeping on track with their assessment and goals. The questions are as follows:
· What are you learning today?
· What do you need to know and be able to do to be successful?
· What do you need to do to improve?
· Where can you go for help?
· How will you use the feedback from your teacher?
Similarly our teachers are asked the following questions to ensure they have clarity of what is being taught.
· What am I teaching?
· Why am I teaching it?
· How will I teach it?
· How will I know that the learning has been successful?
· What next?
A great way to support your child’s learning is by talking with them about their school day. Try using the 5 Questions for Students model to spark conversation. Some examples include: What did you learn today? How did you learn it? Why is it important? What are you finding tricky? What will you do next? These types of questions help your child reflect on their learning, celebrate their progress, and think about their next steps. Regular conversations like these show your child that their learning matters and that you're proud of their efforts!
A positive school environment helps everyone feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. At our school, we work together to show kindness, respect, and encouragement every day. We celebrate effort, include others, and make sure everyone feels like they belong. When students, teachers, and families all work as a team, we create a place where everyone can grow, succeed, and enjoy learning. A positive attitude makes our school a happy and welcoming place for all!
ATTENDANCE – Every Day Counts & School Starts at 8.30am
We have set a whole-school goal of achieving 88% attendance this year, and we believe that every day in school matters. Our Attendance rate is currently 85.7%. Regular attendance is crucial to student success, as it ensures consistent learning, maintains good relationships with peers and teachers, and helps build important skills that extend beyond the classroom. Parents play a vital role in supporting good attendance by encouraging routines and being proactive when issues arise. Teachers help by providing engaging lessons and creating a welcoming environment that makes students excited to come to school. Ultimately, students are key to this goal, as their commitment to attending school and engaging in their learning will ensure we achieve success together.
Travel Safely to School! Getting to school safely is important no matter how you travel. If you’re walking or biking, always use sidewalks and crosswalks, wear a helmet if biking, and stay alert near traffic. When taking the bus, wait safely at the stop and follow the driver’s instructions. If you're riding in a car, always buckle up and use a booster seat if needed. Let’s all do our part to stay safe on the way to and from school!
At Aitkenvale State School, we believe in trying our best, having fun, doing the right thing, and enjoying every day of learning. Whether we’re in the classroom, on the playground, at a school event, or travelling to and from school, we show pride in our efforts and treat others with kindness and respect. We know that learning is exciting, and we’re not afraid to challenge ourselves, celebrate our successes, and support each other along the way. At Aitkenvale, we grow together in a safe, fun, and positive school community!

Teamwork and Technology in 3/4C’s City Research
The students of 3/4C have been actively exploring Queensland cities as part of their HASS assessment. Throughout their research, they’ve been learning to use Google effectively to find reliable information and are also building valuable teamwork skills by supporting one another during the process.

2C's Blooming Science Adventure: From Seed to Sprout!
The students of 2C were thrilled to take home the plants they’ve nurtured from seeds as part of their science unit on life cycles. This hands-on experience allowed them to explore the growth and transformation of plants, from seed to sprout! 🌱🌸
Great job, 2C! Your curiosity and green thumbs are truly flourishing!

The safety of our children is everyone's responsibility. Whether you're a parent, student, or driver, let's work together to keep our roads safe—especially around school buses.
Key Points from Main Roads Department:
Slow down to 40 km/h around school buses when lights are flashing.
👀Be alert for children crossing the road—especially in rural and suburban areas.
Always follow road rules near bus stops and school zones.
Teach children how to wait safely and cross carefully.
